The interesting thing, Kerry, is that had I picked this book out before the NBA called it a YA book, I would never have considered it as such. I wonder why it wasn’t a finalist for the nonfiction category. Anyway, I think it is one your daughter and you will enjoy.

I really enjoyed this review. I loved the drawings and think that I may have found a Christmas present for my daughter. And I cannot wait to read it. Thanks!

Good review–I liked this book a lot and don’t care much for graphic novels. “Disturbing” is a perfect word for the book, especially if you’re a parent and you see the world through your kids’ eyes already. I like how Small was able to capture the world as a kid perceives it.

Bonus points for this:
“It deserves its spot as a finalist and as a Publishers Weekly best book of the year — even if it was written by a man.”
