Many of you have already heard the news that was announced last week (I heard it too but was on holiday and without the means to post this). But . . .
The Independent Foreign Fiction Prize was awarded to:
- The Iraqi Christ, by Hassan Blasim, translated from the Arabic by Jonathan Wright
The judges also gave a special mention to The Mussel Feast, by Birgit Vanderbeke, translated from the German by Jamie Bulloch.
The Shadow Jury gave their award to The Sorrow of Angels, by Jón Kalman Stefansson, translated from the Icelandic by Philip Roughton. You can read about their choice here on Chairman Stu’s blog.
