Winning the trophy and the €100,000, is Juan Gabriel Vásquez’s The Sound of Things Falling, translated from the Spanish by Anne McLean (the award is split €75,000 to Vásquez and €25,000 to McLean).
This year’s winner carries on the IMPAC’s admirable tradition of looking at literature in translation.
Now this may be just the ticket for Richard and Stu’s Spanish Lit Month this July. (Don’t you get sick of pointing me in the right direction for what next to read. ;)
This looks great … so I just bought it with one-click purchase at Amazon for my Kindle. How dangerous that is!!
I just did the same.
