They’ve just announced this year’s Man Booker International finalists.
The ten authors on the list are:
- César Aira (Argentina)
- Hoda Barakat (Lebanon)
- Maryse Condé (Guadeloupe)
- Mia Couto (Mozambique)
- Amitav Ghosh (India)
- Fanny Howe (United States of America)
- Ibrahim al-Koni (Libya)
- László Krasznahorkai (Hungary)
- Alain Mabanckou (Republic of Congo)
- Marlene van Niekerk (South Africa)
Some of my favorites here!
Argentina V Hungary all the way surely…the quick long-ball approach versus tiki-taka…
It’s an exciting list, don’t you think Trevor? I can’t believe I’m saying this – but I’m torn. Cesar Aira OR Alain Mabanckou – how can you choose???
Allowing Americans to compete for the Man Booker Prize seems to have (unexpected bonus) made for a better International Prize. :-)
