David and I are back with another episode of The Eclipse Viewer, the podcast dedicated to the Criterion Collection’s Eclipse Series of DVDs.<\/p>\n

In this episode we talk about Eclipse Series 9: The Delirious Fictions of William Klein. Klein,\u00a0an American\u00a0expatriat\u00a0is perhaps best known for his photography, which caused quite a stir. For some time in the 1960s, he was a fashion photographer for Vogue<\/em>, and his critique of the fashion industry is the subject of his first fictional feature, Who Are You, Polly Magoo?<\/em><\/p>\n

His second feature-length\u00a0foray into fiction was Mr. Freedom<\/em>, an overt critique of American culture and politics of the late 1960s. His third and final fictional feature was\u00a0The Model Couple<\/em>, another satire in which a newly-wed couple is studied and put on display for the world.<\/p>\n

These films\u00a0may be off-putting due to the extreme viewpoints they critique and the extreme viewpoint from which they were composed, yet they are filled with ideas and delivered with conviction.<\/p>\n
