Here are the five finalists\u00a0(links are to my reviews):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>An Armenian Sketchbook<\/strong><\/em>, by Vasily Grossman, translated from the Russian by Elizabeth &amp; Robert Chandler (review <a href=\"http:\/\/mookseandgripes.com\/reviews\/2013\/02\/19\/vasily-grossman-an-armenian-sketchbook\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Transit<\/strong><\/em>, by Anna Seghers, translated from the German by Margot Bettauer Dembo (review <a href=\"http:\/\/mookseandgripes.com\/reviews\/2013\/06\/04\/anna-seghers-transit\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The African Shore<\/strong><\/em>, by Rodrigo Rey Rosa, translated from the Spanish by Jeffrey Gray (review <a href=\"http:\/\/mookseandgripes.com\/reviews\/2014\/04\/29\/rodrigo-rey-rosa-the-african-shore\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The Emperor&#8217;s Tomb<\/strong><\/em>, by Joseph Roth, translated from the German by Michael Hofmann<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Autobiography of a Corpse<\/strong><\/em>, by Sigizmund Krzhizhanovsky, translated from the Russian by Joanne Turnbull and Nikolai Formozov (review <a href=\"http:\/\/mookseandgripes.com\/reviews\/2014\/03\/12\/sigizmund-krzhizhanovsky-autobiography-of-a-corpse\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three titles from NYRB Classics &#8212; impressive! I heartily recommend the four I&#8217;ve read, and I&#8217;m anxious to get to the one I haven&#8217;t, Joseph Roth&#8217;s <em>The Emperor&#8217;s Tomb<\/em>. New Directions is also releasing Richard Panchyk&#8217;s translation of Joseph Roth&#8217;s <em>The Hundred Days<\/em> on October 1.
