I’ve enjoyed Bryan Washington’s work, and I’m excited to have another to read this week. Here is how “Hatagaya Lore” begins:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We moved to Tokyo from Dallas because of my husband\u2019s job, an unexplainable tech gig. When Craig told me about the promotion, he swore it would change his life. I didn\u2019t want anything to do with it\u2014I had no interest in Japan. Couldn\u2019t find the country on a map, couldn\u2019t speak a lick of Japanese.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I loved him.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And he fielded most of our expenses.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019ll be an adventure, Craig said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most travellers don\u2019t survive their journeys, I said.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
