You’ve probably heard, but this year’s Nobel Prize for Literature has been awarded to Mario Vargas Llosa.<\/p>\n

This was a nice surprise since it appears the committee figured out a way to plug the leak they’ve had the past few years. I haven’t read anything by Vargas Llosa, but I hope to soon.\u00a0Vargas Llosa is the first Latin American laureate since Octavio Paz won in 1990.\u00a0That was also the last time a writer in Spanish won the prize.<\/p>\n
