The winner of this year’s Pulitzer Prize is The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt.
I read the first 130 pages of this 700+ page book earlier this year. Though I was truly enjoying the story, I kept putting the book down for longer and longer periods of time. When two weeks had past without my picking it up, I considered it abandoned. I hope to return to it some day.
The two finalists for the prize were The Son, by Philipp Meyer, and The Woman Who Lost Her Soul, by Bob Shacochis.
I have The Son, and I’m looking forward to it.

I’m really pleased for Tartt as I think the novel is (though certainly not perfect) a seriously impressive achievement and I loved the hours I spent reading it. I think it’ll reward your second attempt, Trevor, although it has garnered very mixed responses from those I know that have read it.
