Us ConductorsThe winner of the 2014 Giller Prize was announced (yesterday; I’ve been busy) — and it’s the same book we on the Shadow Giller chose (see our announcement here on Chairman KFC’s blog)!

So, congratulations to Sean Michaels! His novel Us Conductors won each prize (a rare feat!).

Amanda has reviewed Us Conductors for The Mookse and the Gripes here.

I myself liked the book more than I think Amanda did, though it was not my first choice for the Giller this year. My choice was Frances Itani’s post-World War I book Tell. That said, while I personally did not love any of the books on this year’s shortlist, I did admire and enjoy almost each of them, including Us Conductors, and I recommend this as a good year for the Giller Prize.
