I was delighted to participate in another conversation with Scott Nye and David Blakeslee about a film for The CriterionCast. David chose the film this time: Luchino Visconti’s 1954 marvel, Senso, starring Alida Valli and Farley Granger as lovers in an impossible romance during the Austrian occupation of Venice. The film begins at the opera and maintains all sweep and drama of opera throughout. I loved it, though it was not even on my radar when it was selected.
I hope you enjoy the conversation and consider picking it up during this month’s Barnes and Noble sale.
