International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award Winner

After winning the National Book Award in 2009, Colum McCann’s Let the Great World Spin has now won the IMPAC (see the announcement on the IMPAC website here).

I have this book on hand, but I haven’t been compelled to read it quite yet.  Perhaps this will do the trick.

  1. Not much coverage of this – I guess because it’s been so widely read (though not by me I admit).

  2. This was a selection for my Literary Masters book groups and everyone loved it. It’s beautifully written and there are many layers to ‘dig deep’ into. The trope of walking the high wire through life in New York is fantastic–it works well throughout the book. I read it twice and perhaps enjoyed it more the second time because I could appreciate how McCann crafted the novel. One of the best books out there right now, in my humble opinion. :-)
