The 2020 Booker Prize Winner

Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart has won the 2020 Booker Prize. If you paid attention when I posted about the shortlist, you saw there: “I myself am going to cheer for Shuggie Bain, at least for now, as it’s the only one I have read. I thought it was brilliant, though, so I feel good cheering for it anyway.” I still feel good about that! It is a worthy winner, a unique book with heartache and heart.

Another year in Booker history, and one I think is notable with so many diverse voices and debut novelists showing up in the list. Let’s hope there are some good surprises and great books next year too!
