The 2021 Booker Prize Longlist
It’s time to kick off another Booker Prize season! The thirteen books that are up for the award have been revealed. I have read only one — Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun — and I didn’t like it much at all, but it’s always exciting to see what books are on the longlist. The shortlist will be announced on September 14, with the winner on November 3. There is a lot of activity over at The Mookse and the Gripes Goodreads group, so go over there and join in.
- A Passage North, by Anuk Arudpragasam
- Second Place, by Rachel Cusk
- The Promise, by Damon Galgut
- The Sweetness of Water, by Nathan Harris
- Klara and the Sun, by Kazuo Ishiguro
- An Island, by Karen Jennings
- A Town Called Solace, by Mary Lawson
- No One is Talking About This, by Patricia Lockwood
- The Fortune Men, by Nadifa Mohamed
- Bewilderment, by Richard Powers
- China Room, by Sunjeev Sahota
- Great Circle, by Maggie Shipstead
- Light Perpetual, by Francis Spufford
Great to see Rachel Cusk on the list. Has anyone read this book?
I thought it was fantastic and up there with the Outline trilogy. Klara and the Sun is my favorite of the 5 I’ve read from the longlist, but hoping to pick off the rest over the next few months!
